About Westboro and Hampton Park
Westboro, often referred to as Westboro Village, has about 22,000 people living here. There are many coffee shops and different styles of restaurants and boutiques along Richmond Road, turning the neighbourhood into a hip and trendy place to hang out.
Westboro shops include such outdoor and sports brands as Lululemon, Bushtakah, Mountain Equipment Co-Op and The Expedition Shoppe.
Bars and Restaurants in the area and along Wellington Street West include: The Clocktower Brew Pub, Westboro Barley Mow, Pure Kitchen, Lexington Smokehouse & Bar, Gezellig, Brassica and the Trio Bistro and Lounge, among many others.
On the edge of Westboro sits Maplelawn. Originally a British classicism inspired residence with a walled garden, this beautiful building was dedicated as a national historic site in 1989, renovated to become the Maplelawn Café restaurant and since 1999 has been the home of the Keg Manor restaurant with a gorgeous maple tree and flagstone patio in back with tables surrounding for a pre-dinner cocktail.
Owned by the National Capital Commission and maintained by the City of Ottawa, Hampton Park is a park and sub-neighbourhood of Westboro with a population of approximately 3,200. Some of its trees are estimated to be over 250 years old.
Many streets in the Hampton Park area are named after upper class streets in London like Piccadilly, Kensington, Mayfair and Windsor. The area has a park that contains two baseball diamonds, a basketball court, outdoor pool, and a playground with change room facilities.
The OC Transpo stations of Westboro and Dominion provide frequent, local bus service along the busy Richmond Road.
