About Cumberland
The Cumberland area is mainly comprised of bedroom communities and sees between 50 - 60 home sales every year, with a high of 72 in 2016. Since 2000 there were only 4 years when prices decreased, that was 2009, 2013, 2016 and again in 2018. In 2021 53 homes sold with average selling price of almost $950K.
Just past Orleans to the east you'll find Cumberland which became a city in 1999 and amalgamated with the City of Ottawa in 2001. Homes and condos for sale encompass all areas around Cumberland such as Carlsbad Springs, Notre-Dame-des-Champs, Sarsfield and Vars.
Cumberland has a small village feel with some older homes, but there are also new developments with larger homes, some up on the hill with spectacular views.
Located on the Ottawa River, Cumberland Village has many waterfront homes as well as some new developments to choose from. The population here is 4,100 and expanding.
Montessori Children's House is the closest school in the area with a host of schools in neighbouring Orleans.
Cumberland Farmers' Market with about 40 vendors operates Saturdays, from June to October (10 km east of Place d'Orleans).
Cumberland Village Heritage Museum is a major attraction, depicting rural life in the 1920s and '30s, featuring over 20,000 artifacts with a General Store, one-room schoolhouse and antique vehicles, a tractor-pulled wagon ride, and farm animals. Every other Sunday, the Ottawa Valley Live Steamers and Model Engineers are on site to give rides on their model trains.
Hammond Golf Club is a public 18-hole, par 72 course for golfers of all calibers. They also feature kids golfing for free after 3 pm! Their restaurant has partnered with the Broken Stick Brewing Company to offer the freshest beer and delicious food. Their cream ale won an Ontario Brewing Award in 2021.
