Homes for Sale in the Glebe

About The Glebe

The Glebe is an upscale neighbourhood close to downtown and the Rideau Canal. The Glebe is home to transformed Lansdowne Park and the TD Place Stadium, where the Redblacks and Ottawa Fury play. Formerly known as the Ottawa Civic Centre, Urbandale Centre and Canadian Tire Centre, the TD Place Arena renovated in 2014 has seating capacity for 9,862 and is home to the Ottawa '67s, part of the OHL.

Lansdowne provides a variety of shops, restaurants and sporting events, concerts and entertainment making it the area's hot spot for tourists and residents alike. There are even two condo towers overlooking the Lansdowne sporting events and the serene canal with its boats or skaters as the seasons change.

Restaurants at Lansdowne include: Craft Beer Market, Crust & Crate, Joey's Lansdowne, Sunset Grill, SEN Asian Cuisine, to name just a few.

You'll find a variety of house styles in the Glebe, with older homes in original condition, as well as those that have been fully gutted and partially renovated to enjoy more modern standards. One of Ottawa's most recognizable and eclectic areas, it was initially established in 1837 and now approximately 12,000 people live here.

Located south of the Queensway, northwest of the Queen Elizabeth Driveway and east of Bronson Avenue, the Glebe is known for its older character homes but there are plenty of modern in-fill developments and condominiums throughout. Carleton University is in close proximity to the neighbourhood. Convenient access to the Rideau Canal, park land, shops, and restaurants on Bank Street make it a walkable community.

The Queensway is easily accessible to move around the city. Two major OC Transpo routes run every 15 minutes in the Glebe and many ticketed events at TD Place. The closest O-Train Station is the Parliament Confederation Line, about a 30-minute walk to O'Connor and Queen Streets.

Housing development around the stadium consists of Condo Towers and some modern townhomes. If you want more information on any of the newer developments happening in the Glebe, get in touch and we'll keep you updated as we hear about anything upcoming.

The neighbourhood is committed to active transportation which translates to many people either walking or cycling to work. In fact, Ottawa is well-known for its abundance of walking and cycling paths. One such example allows you to bike from the intersection of Fourth Avenue and Bank Street in the Glebe to Innes and Blair Road in Pineview.
