About Eastway Gardens

Eastway Gardens is a small neighbourhood of about 600 people in Alta Vista Ward in the east end of Ottawa. It's bounded by the Rideau River to the west, St. Laurent Blvd. to the east, and is sandwiched between Coventry Road to the north, and Belfast Road to the south. It's residents consider it a "hidden gem".

Most homes in Eastway Gardens were built in the 1950s by Teron Construction.

Most streets are named after the alphabet, beginning with Avenue K and ending with Avenue U, which was originally built for railway employees. While the original plan didn't materialize, you will find the Via Rail Station built in 1966, as well as more industrial buildings, office buildings and some larger stores.

The Queensway runs down the middle of this neighbourhood giving commuters easy access to downtown. In addition, a busy bus transit way and O-Train Station on the Confederation Line that opened in 2019 is located at St. Laurent Shopping Centre (and the Queensway) with indoor pedestrian access to shopping and an underground walkway to get to the other side of the Queensway.

In addition to St. Laurent Shopping Centre, Tremblay Road now serves up more than industrial complexes with the development of the Ottawa Train Yards - a premier shopping district with over 110 acres of property, 150 of North America's leading retailers, combined with services and restaurants.
